oh yeah i forgot to add int he last post.. that CLEMEST LAU was very drunk, as he had a whole bottle of red wine to himself, sad byatch. AND he gladly ate a piece of chocolate with the foil still on which i offered to him ie: he chewed the foil too. haha.. stoopid byatch. AND it would be advisable to read from bottom up.

CNY

GONG HEI FATT CHOY everyone!!

i know i'm like 2 days late.. but oh well, only just managed to get down to blogging.

anyway had a great cny celebration in the form of the CNY ball on sat night! it was organised by the asian/jap/chinese societies.. and was held at the hilton grosvenor hotel.( this is not the hilton chain unfortunately)

anyway mary and i started getting ready at like 4, cos the reception was at 6 and dinner started at 630, so we messed about and got dressed, applied makeup, did our hair.. the works. then rachael and clement came over and we headed off together in a taxi.

lots of people were already there when we arrived, everyone was so nicely dressed! all the guys were like in tuxedos and tails and what nots, very nice indeed. hehe.. we had our 3 course meal ( which kinda sucked, should have just paid for the after party which started at 8pm and only 10 pounds, hence im not gonna elaborate on what i had, its not worth it) then more people came in bout 8ish, the ones who had only paid for the after party. then the fun begannn

we all gathered around the dance floor and we were told some performances were going to starting. so to start off, there was kung fu - performed by the edinburgh kungfu society, full of agmohs in orange suits. haha was quite funny, they did a pretty impressive kung fu thingy to the wong fei hong music. haha.. then we had belly dancing, tibetian dancing, tango dancing, pipa and gu zheng performances. all very impressive and enjoyable! after that 2 more rooms were opened up adjacent to the main function room, and in the main function room, there was a celidgh( scottish dancing with a celidgh band), super fun, i participated in 2 dances, one of em was like reallly fast, ahha got really hot and sweaty at the end, but it was great! hehee.. then at the other end of the 3 rooms was karaoke, where they had like a long long list of chinese songs to choose from.rachael and I sang qi li xiang together.. haha was so fun, though i couldnt read a few words, i just smoked my way through. haha..

then at the same time, raffle tickets were being sold ( lucky draw like that cept that you gotta buy the ticks la) i bout 3, but obviously didnt win anything, but the top prize was an ipod nano, WOW i know. haha.. and they had other prizes like sakae, food vouchers, shopping vouchers...etc. all very good. then they were also selling stalks of roses, where you could buy a rose for a girl of guy, and whoever had the most at the end of the night was crowed queen or king of roses. haha, obbviosuly having a BOYFRIEND there would help. oh well. i got ONE rose, haha from dear old clemmy who bought all of us girls one.. hehe..

yeah so the night went on like this ,the great thing about it was that you wouldnt get bored just doing one thing.. you could like walk around and stuff. then after all this, the disco dancing started which was good fun, had like a proper countdown at 12am to welcome in the new year! haha then we wished each other " happy dog" haha.

all in all, an entirely enyoable night , though my dress was threatenin to fall off MANY times... but all was well in the end. ill leave you now with photos. i apologise for the poor quality of them.. my cameras like broken.

Pseudo Curry

im currently waiting for my overcooked rice to dry up in my rice cooker.. and there waitin in the pan for me is my pseudo curry.

why psuedo? well i brought up one of those butter chicken curry mix, the ones you by from mustafas? well, instructions were simple, " add tomato puree followed by yoghurt or double cream." I possessed neither. what i DID possess was bolognaise tomato sauce with extra mushrooms, and onken mango-passion fruit and papaya- yoghurt. hahaa... so i thought they would be alright substitutes. ahha.. the result of that is a rather sour cum sweetish tasting curry, not at all like butter chicken curry, with an initial taste of mango/passion fruit? hahahaha..

well there you go, my curry with italian herbs ( from the tomato sauce) and fruit yoghurt. haha. i cant wait.

The One about the mouse - a pathetic attempt at a friends-like title.

haha.. ok that is a lame title. anyway, we have a MOUSE in the kitchen. I personnaly havent seen him, but apparently he exists, making his presence known with the littlest droppings youll ever see. hahaa...

his excretory waste was first discovered in the cookie mix the Rhian was putting together. it looked a bit like chocolate chips, but Rhian said she haddnt put any in. haha , i tested its consistency with a paper towel, yes it was soft-ish.

anyway the point of my story is that the pest control man came today. lovely scottish man who brought along these paper boxes and this tub of POISON. so he began assembling these small white boxes with a small hole in the front. and he put a handful of these seed like things in it. apparently mice are inquisitive things, so theyll sniffsniffsniff and wonder what these boxes are and theyll squeeze through these boxes and hopefully eat these seeds. Now, these seeds are NO ordinary cumin seed, they contain this lethal poison which causes slow onset of DEATH.

and eventually , 2 days from ingestion of these seeds.. the mouse.. will.. haemorrhage to death( for those non sciency pple, that means it will bleed internally to death) YIKES!

mm poor mr stewert little.. i do feel for you..

A Bloggeriffic Dream - title courtesy of igor.

so I had this terrible dream 2 nights ago. I dreamt that I was on death row.

?!?!?! you say. yes, it was BAD. i had apparently successfully accidently killed someone, however it was very strange. i was still roaming the streets waiting for D day and not cooped up in the prison like Van Ngyuen was. so i told Rev Melvin Huang in my mgs school canteen what had happened, and to my surprise, he said he might be able to do something about it and intervene! so, he wrote a letter to the government on my behalf.

on the day before D day, I was across the road from Wesley when i say this indian man hurrying with this letter, somehow in my dream i knew that was the reply letter, so I rushed across the road and got hold of the letter. I read it and my heart sank, it basically said " too bad" and that i had committed a crime, these are the country's laws which they have to uphold and i would have to pay for it. ( scarily like Van's case) heh. so yeah, the next minute i knew, i had to go to prison, and I had to hastily say my last goodbye to my family and ben.

then i woke up.

omg, SO SO SO SCARYYYYYY.. i think its sign. that i need to treasure life more.. bleagh.. as you can imagine, i was incredibly relieved to wake up..

i havent a single scrap of work since coming bk. go me.

been submerged back under the same blanket of insecurity since coming back. ( and it is at this point where you go , oh no.. here she goes moaning bout life again) mm.. well dont read then. this blog is more therapeutic then anything. heh..

uni has been pretty ok since it started again.. got lotsa things to look forward to, namely, AMSTERDAM, chinese new yr ball which i will get to wear my goddess dress again.. must get mileage mah.. mm and like various meal outings which are always a treat rather then cooking which can be a pain. oh, and hopefully deborah comes up and visit me.. which will be nice, cos NO ONE has come to see me yet.. cos its " too far"... grr. haha.. only joking.

watched memoirs of a geisha the other day, was a really nice picturesque film , pretty well done i would say except that the fact that they spoke half-baked japanese accented english bugged me. but i guess if it were subtitled it would have cut the box office in half. but yeah 3 GORGEOUS actresses to oggle at ( YES women are allowed to oggle you know..) , my favourite being GONG LI, who is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO stunning and drop dead gorgeous and dripping with sex appeal, she's the asian angelina jolie, the most symmetrical face you will ever see .. hahaa.. even i was drooling man..

AND following that, I subsequently borrowed 2 geisha bookes, one called " geisha" by lesley downer, and " geisha in gion" by this japanese woman who was once a geisha.. haha i know, bit obsessive right. but I LIKE.. nearly finished geisha.. skipped a bit of the history bits, just got the basic gist of the history of geisha cos after a while it was story after story about this famous geisha, that famous geisha, this temple dedicated to this geisha, this famous prince who fell in love with geisha, and commited love suicide.. blablabla. haha.. anyway i would so love to wear a kimono.. like the big big kinda, with a HUGE obi. someone out there.. a kimono please?

since we're on the japanese theme, can i say, i had such a BAD japanese meal for my friends birthday the other day. it was held at bonsai, and i paid 14 POUNDS, for like 5 thin-unfresh slices of salmon sashimi, 2 inari ( the beancurd with stuffed rice), 5 measly unfresh heavy battered prawn tempura, and a bowl of jap rice( 1.25 pounds!?!?!), yes. now i will not take jap food in singapore forgranted anymore.. man oh man. 14 pounds.. ouch.

mm also been reading up on the nazi doctor experiments.. go to http://www.auschwitz.dk/doctors.htm its really absolutely appalling. this is for my student selected component group project.. man its really really horrifying.. no words can describe.. ugh.

ah ok.. one of my longer posts for a while.. so i shall end here.. perhaps go do some pbl research.. i really need to get down to proper work..

soo.. its been a couple of days since coming bk.. tis was a longgg journey back indeed.

still havent done my grocery shopping so still living off ben's supply of instant mee and some instant pasta.. oh sooo unhealthy but heck! haha.. miss being able to pop to a hawker centre for food man.. im convinced the food scene here is DIRE. GRR.

OOO im going to amsterdam in the 2nd of feb with my babe mary! hehee... cannot wait! cept i think we were both a bit overly excited and rash with the booking of flights yesterday and didnt get a tereribly good deal yest.. heh.. my mum was rather unhappy bout that and why i didnt consult her or my aunty who is really experienced with going to that part of the world..blablablabla... ok so great. another " incident " she can use against me in our future mother daughter fights. ah well. sigh.

yay! so been occupying my time with what to do in amsterdam and stuff.. we're stayin in a hostelboat for 18 pounds a night with breakfast so thats pretty good.. should be fun!

anyway im just waiting for the day to pass... together we me and my jay chou.. ahh..

ST PIERREs - the food at my birthday

( from left down to right)

1. complimentary first course
- turkey with black truffle
- muhroom capuccino
- glazed butternut
- caviar and eggplant mash

2. crab meat salad with tomato and
wasabi based dressing

3. my foiegras( i cant describe it cos theyve just changed the menu online)

4. ben's foeigras
classic pan-fried foie gras with caramelised green apples and old port sauce

5. cream of chestnut soup with mushrooms, black truffle, truffle oil, with a dash of beetroot mash on the side

6. orange sorbet to cleanse the pallate

7. pan fried sea bream with deep fried scallop ( this was the only disappointing dish)

ah there you have it! we shared everything so we basically had a 6 course meal. hahaha it was YUMMYYYY and ex too. =@s

the holidays are ending already.... leaving this monday.. but ive had a SUPERB holiday and to top it all off with a big bang - BEN GOT INTO CAMBRIDGE!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!.. i was in utter shock when he called me.. man miracles do happen. what were the odds man? he was practically competing for one place.. but he totally deserved it and im SOOOOO proud of him!! hehee..

anyway this holiday has been great, what with my mum's 50h birthday celebration party which was a blast! followed by christmas which was a simple affair, followed by my birthday ( FINALLY joined the 20s club - haha) which was a pretty normal day but with a continuous air of excitement throughout the day.. ben came over and surprised me with my "ONLY" birthday present - sara lee chocolate cake. so i was like " oh.. mm thats nice.. heh.. er thanks.." haha.. then he sneakily went out and brought in the REAL thing - a pair of GEOXx shoes which i had seen and loved at the shop in paragon! haha.. he had sneaked out during his lunch time at work to buy them.. =@) then watched american pie 4 - band camp.. which was a quite funny.. and just spent the rest of the day bumming followed by an exquisite french dinner at st pierree!! =@) 'twas a good birthday indeed...

then new years eve - dinner was characterised by chilli crab, cheese crab, pepper crab falling out of our ears , then lobster noodles.. and DENNNNN... lobster porridge!! can you imagine? goodness... it was ben's grandmothers birthday dinner la.. haha

then we went bk to ben's house together with bens army friends - greg and stephen - 2 INCREDIBLY fun guys .. and nicole, adriel, mel...etc. played stupid drinking games like KINGS and got a lil bit tipsy which is always fun.. hahaa then at 3am we decided to troop off to macs and have supper! hahaha... it was crazy la.. but one of my best new yrs eve to date! =@)

these last few days have been made up off catchin up with old friends - namely xunyu, chuiling, josh.. and now i leave you with pictures - which indeed speak louder then words. =@)
